Woman Killed in Chico Crash
An area crash that occurred on Sunday, July 1, 2018, left a local woman with fatal injuries. Officers from the Chico area California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the accident took place on Highway 32 in the community of Forest Ranch. Reports noted that the crash involved two vehicles and happened at an intersection location. The woman who lost her life was identified by officials from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office as 20-year-old Forest Ranch resident Hailey Jones.

Fatal Car Accident Chico Ca Information
According to CHP, the crash took place at the intersection of State Route 32 and Headwaters Road. At about 7 p.m., Jones had been driving northbound in a Toyota Scion along Headwater Road. Jones had reportedly been fully stopped at the State Route 32 intersection before she attempted to turn left into eastbound highway lanes.
CHP says that a 58-year-old woman traveling eastbound on the highway struck Jones’ Toyota while Jones was attempting to turn. The other vehicle reportedly struck Jones’ car on the driver’s side door.
Serious Injuries
Medical officials who responded to the collision said that Jones was found with severe trauma. Sadly, responders declared the young woman deceased before she could be taken to a hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was reported to have suffered minor injuries.
Car Accident Investigation
CHP has this accident under investigation and is attempting to determine which factors may have been at fault. While they have not mentioned any suspected causes, CHP has stated that DUI has been ruled out as a possible factor.
