Father and Son Die in Camarillo Plane Crash

A second airplane crash within a few days has claimed the lives of two more people in Ventura County. The crash occurred in Camarillo on June 4 after the plane took off from Camarillo Airport.  This follows the crash near Emma Wood State Beach on June 1, where one man lost his life. My sympathy and prayers are with the family in their time of sorrow.

Plane Crash Details

Sources reported that emergency services heard about the plane accident about 3:30 in the afternoon and responded to the Marvella Court crash site, which is located where Moorpark Road and Santa Rosa Road connect. According to witnesses to the crash, the Piper PA-28 was circling near the ground when it crashed inside an arena for horses. The gated community, the light plane crashed in, is called Hidden Meadow Estates.

Crash Victims

Upon arrival at the crash site, it was discovered that a Calabasas man, 57, and his son, age 15, had died in the crash. The bodies of the deceased were taken out of the airplane at about 8:00 p.m. A spokesman from the Ventura County Fire Department said the plane caught fire shortly after the plane crash and that residents living nearby put out the flames. Investigators were called to the crash site from the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration and are conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Finding an Attorney After an Airplane Crash

Researching an airplane crash is much different than researching the cause of other types of personal injury accidents. For a small plane, it can involve examining air traffic control records, maintenance and records for inspection, voice recorders, and manuals for procedures, maintenance, and operation. That means when a family member has been injured or has died in a plane crash, it is important to find an airplane crash attorney who is experienced. While negligence may be attributed to pilot error, it may also be due to mechanical problems, which might be linked to a manufacturer defect.

Airplane Accident Injuries

Although the odds of surviving a plane crash are surprisingly high, fatal accidents do occur. Even when a passenger or pilot does survive, it can cause significant injuries because a plane is traveling at a high rate of speed. Injuries can include burns, spinal fractures, and traumatic brain injuries. According to Medscape, 40 percent of all spinal fractures caused by a plane crash most commonly occur in the cervical spine area of the neck.
