California Traffic Collision Study

California Most Dangerous Intersections Rankings

A study conducted by a Southern California firm concluded that Sacramento is the second-ranked city with the most dangerous intersections in the state of California.

California Most Dangerous Intersections Reports

A new study was conducted to rank the most dangerous intersections throughout California based upon data collected from 2015 regarding motor vehicle collisions. A total of 444 intersections were ranked from 435,000 vehicular accident records from the Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS). The data from SWITRS, which is a California Highway Patrol maintained database, concluded that there was a total of 7,294 crashes throughout the state which included 7,478 injuries along with 57 fatalities.

Sacramento Ranks Second for Most Dangerous Intersections

The second-ranked city with the highest total quantity of dangerous intersections was Sacramento with 13. Other cities surrounding Sacramento were also a part of the study, such as Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Folsom, Orangevale, and Rancho Cordova. Sacramento placed in second behind Los Angeles which was ranked first with a total of 221 most dangerous intersections.
