An investigation by local police will determine fault in the collision.

How to Get Help if You Have Been Injured

Box truck drivers should have insurance coverage if they cause an accident. We will review your claim, gather necessary evidence and documents, and negotiate with the insurance company to maximize the compensation you receive. You suffer enough physical pain and suffering from being injured by a negligent driver. The financial burden should not fall on you. The negligent driver may have to pay for your medical expenses, lost wages due to being unable to work, and pain and suffering in a personal injury claim.

Box Truck Accident

It is common to see box trucks on the road. A big, heavy, harder-to-control vehicle is more likely to cause an accident than a smaller, lighter one. U-Haul and Ryder offer box truck rentals for private individuals and large companies like Amazon and UPS typically use them. Box truck drivers may be negligent for several reasons, including:

  • Distracted driving: A driver may be distracted when consulting their delivery schedule or GPS directions, resulting in an accident.
  • Speeding: Because of the busy schedule of their drivers, large companies often have speed issues.
  • Rear-end collision: Box trucks carrying a full load require longer stopping distances, which causes rear-end collisions.
  • Inexperience: An inexperienced driver may not recognize the differences in handling, blind spots, and stopping distance for box trucks compared to passenger vehicles.
  • Improper loading: The load can shift, or the driver can turn sharply, causing a box truck to roll over. This can cause a collision with another vehicle.

Insurance Coverage in Truck Accident

It is common for companies’ liability policies to provide at least $1 million of coverage in the event of a liability lawsuit involving one of their vehicles. Renting box trucks for personal use requires that the driver have an insurance policy to cover any accidents he or she may have while driving. Still, these policies are typically minimal, usually only covering $15,000 to $30,000. The driver’s auto insurance policies usually compensate people who suffer losses in box truck accidents.

Whether the rental company was liable for the injury accident depended on whether the driver had a background of problems or if the truck had a mechanical defect. A box truck lawyer is essential to obtaining the compensation you deserve following an injury accident with a box truck due to the complexity of liability, the possibility of multiple insurance policies, and other factors.
