Shop Local in Sacramento

2020 is not the year for cramming into crowded malls and shops to get your last-minute Christmas shopping done.  Even before the pandemic, more and more holiday shopping was done online.  This year, the bulk of holiday shopping will be done through our computers.  At the same time, it is more important than ever to “shop local” and support small businesses.  Accordingly, we have rounded up a list of the best places in Sacramento for holiday shopping – and thankfully, each provides options for buying online for shipping, delivery, or curbside pick-up.

Where Should I Go Christmas Shopping in Sacramento?

It has never been easier to live by the motto Shop Local in Sacramento.  Following are five suggestions for Sacramento small business shopping for Christmas 2020.

  • Strapping Store. With locations in Oak Park (3405 Broadway) and Midtown (1731 L Street) and a tagline “gifts for rad people,” Strapping Store is the place to find the perfect gift for those who are challenging to shop for.   If you have a loved one who enjoys unique household items, games, puzzles, books, and fashion accessories, the Strapping Store has a seemingly endless supply of gift options.
  • Capital Books on K.  Located near the Crest Theater at 1011 K Street, Capital Books has been able to survive the pandemic by taking an innovative approach to sales in the early days of the shelter-in-place order.  They began a social media campaign and offered local deliveries and curbside pick-up.  Months later, they have refined their sales options, making this local business a natural choice for the book or game lover on your list.
  • Allspicery.  This is the place to shop for the cooking enthusiast.  They carry over 400 spices, including house-crafted spice blends.  They also sell an assortment of culinary gifts.  They are currently closed for in-person shopping but are selling online for shipping, as well as storefront pick-up and local delivery.  Allspicery is located on 11th Street between L and K.
  • Identity Boutique.  This shop is located in the Downtown Commons at 405 K Street, Suite 115.  They sell a wide variety of fashion items – clothing and accessories – as well as novelty gifts such as candles that look like cans of White Claw.
  • Kitchen Table.  An adorable kitchenware boutique located in East Sacramento at 1462 33rd Street, Kitchen Table is currently closed to in-person shopping, but online shopping is always available.  They offer shipping, local delivery, and pick-up options.

Shop Local: Convenient Holiday Shopping

The website Curbside Holiday was created to address the challenges of holiday shopping during the pandemic.  It allows for online shopping at several local businesses and the ability to pick up your purchases near the Crest Theater in one fell swoop.  In addition to the retailers listed above, other businesses featured are:
