Tips to Reduce Auburn Intersection Accidents:

While driving allow a safe following distance

Allowing a safe following distance will allow you the time needed to brake if the leading car stops suddenly. Many times this happens at intersections when a car runs a red light. This also occurs when pedestrians unexpectedly enter the intersection. When the roads are slick it is even more important to maintain a safe following distance.

Always anticipate the actions of other motorists

When a light turns green for your direction of travel be sure to scan the roadway and make sure it is safe to proceed. You may have heard this referred to as driving defensively. With the increased number of distracted drivers on the road, it is now more important than ever to drive defensively. Unfortunately, no amount of defensive driving can completely eliminate the poor choices made by negligent drivers.

Avoid Distracted Driving

Do your utmost to avoid texting, eating, applying makeup, and other distracting actions while driving. Distracted driving resulted in over 3,150 fatalities in the United States in 2014. A large percentage of these deaths happened in intersections.

Do not try to make it through the intersection on a yellow light

This action is tempting, especially when we are in a hurry. This behavior is a huge mistake as it will make you less prepared for unexpected hazards in the roadway. Waiting a few more minutes is a better idea. If you start to accelerate and a driver runs a red light, or a pedestrian suddenly enters the intersection, then the crash is likely to be serious.

Surveillance Camera Footage at Intersection

Images from surveillance cameras can be your best witness. If you have been involved in a traffic collision at an intersection it is important to secure a copy of the captured footage.  If you have been seriously injured due to another motorist’s negligence, please contact an experienced attorney. You may be entitled to recover compensation for your injuries, lost wages, and other damages.
