Sacramento Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident

An 18-year old female was struck by a vehicle on Monday, November 21, 2016. Sadly, the Sacramento County coroner’s office confirmed that the woman, Alexis Landeros, passed away as a result of the injuries she suffered in this tragic pedestrian accident.

What Happened?

Alexis Landeros, a resident of Sacramento, was struck and killed by a motorist driving a Jeep Wrangler.

The Sacramento Bee reported that Landeros was walking across Marconi Avenue around 4:20 p.m. in the vicinity of Ashbourne Drive on Monday. The Arden Arcade accident took place where the roadway is situated as two lanes in either direction, with a two-way left-hand turn lane in the middle. Landeros’ mother was across the roadway on the opposite side of the street. Sadly, the young woman’s mother witnessed her daughter being struck and fatally wounded.

As Landeros crossed the street walking along the two-way left-hand turn lane, a motorist who was traveling down the eastbound fast lane, saw her and slowed down, said the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Meanwhile, the driver of the Jeep Wrangler was proceeding along the eastbound slow lane. The Wrangler driver also saw Landeros but believed she was going to wait for the traffic to pass her before crossing.

As the woman in the Wrangler kept driving, Landeros stepped right into the path of her car, the CHP indicated. The woman driving the Wrangler tried to swerve in an effort to avoid striking the young woman with her vehicle but was unable to avoid the collision. Landeros was rushed to a local hospital, but sadly she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
