Arden Arcade Multivehicle Crash

Arden Arcade Multivehicle Crash

An Arden Arcade multivehicle crash happened during the afternoon hours of March 14, which involved six vehicles and caused an injury requiring an ambulance. The car accident was reported in the police log for the California Highway Patrol (CHP) as occurring at the intersection of Alta Arden Expressway and Bell Street shortly before 5:00 p.m. One vehicle, a Toyota Camry, was badly damaged in the crash and had to be towed away from the accident site.

Possible Hit and Run Reported

While it was initially reported that this was not a hit and run collision, the report was later changed to indicate that it was. It is unknown what injuries the person suffered that was transported to a hospital, nor their identity at this time. The CHP is in charge of an investigation into the crash to determine its cause and assign fault. It took about half an hour to clear the accident scene.

Intersection Accidents Are Among the Most Common

According to the Federal Highway Administration, about 2.5 million collisions occur each year in intersections. Only rear-end collisions are more common. The most common reasons for an Arden Arcade multivehicle crash at an intersection are as follows:

  • While making a left turn: Traffic often continues to come forward when a turn lane light is on, and the motorist is expected to turn only when it is safe to do so. If the driver tries to speed to beat an oncoming car or misjudges, it can result in an Arden Arcade multivehicle crash.
  • Distracted driving: A major cause of accidents, distracted driving, caused by texting, eating, accessing GPS or chatting with passengers, can lead to an Arden Arcade multivehicle crash. The only way to avoid this is to concentrate on the task at hand, which is driving.
  • Speeding: Speeders are a common danger to other drivers because they have less control over their vehicle and may not be able to stop if an emergency occurs. In addition, a speeder is more likely to run a red light or commit another traffic infraction that can cause a collision.
  • Drunk driving: Drunk drivers cause thousands of fatalities each year. Because a drunk driver has poor judgment, affected vision, and reduced reflexes, it can result in an Arden Arcade multivehicle crash.
  • Drugged driving: A driver who is under the influence of an illicit drug or certain prescription or over-the-counter medications is just as bad as a drunk driver.

Recovering Intersection Accident Damages

In accidents that involve multiple vehicles at an intersection, professional help is needed to determine exactly how it happened. Because California is a comparative fault state, it is important to make this determination in order for an injured person to be able to collect the financial damages they need and deserve. An experienced personal injury lawyer helps by going over the police report to look for inaccuracies, interviewing witnesses to the accident and using other methods to determine exactly what happened. Lawyers also have the ability to perform accident reconstruction, review videos of the accident and use expert witnesses to build a case for financial compensation.
