Walerga Road Intersection Pedestrian Accident Involves Motor Vehicle

A pedestrian accident with a motor vehicle in Antelope resulted in serious injuries to the walker on November 29. The pedestrian was hospitalized as a result. The accident happened at the Walerga Road intersection with Antelope Road at around 6:00 a.m.

Investigation Held to Determine Cause of Pedestrian Accident

First responders arrived at the scene and administered CPR and then transported the pedestrian to a hospital. The condition of the pedestrian has not been released. California Highway Patrol (CHP) investigators closed down the area of the road as they worked to determine fault in the accident and how it occurred. No additional details were released.

Causes of Pedestrian Collisions With Motor Vehicle Drivers at Intersections

One of the major causes of pedestrian collisions with motor vehicle drivers at intersections is driver inattention. Drivers distracted by mobile phones, conversations with passengers and other distractions are more likely to miss pedestrians crossing the street or fail to yield the right-of-way at intersections.

Visibility can also be a contributing factor if roads and sidewalks are poorly lit or if parked cars partially obstruct drivers’ views. Additionally, vehicles turning suddenly can cause collisions as drivers do not anticipate pedestrians attempting to cross the street.

Other factors that contribute to pedestrian collisions include high-speed limits near intersections, which give drivers less time to react and stop, inadequate signage indicating crossings or pedestrian right-of-way, lack of crossing islands or medians, large turning radii and lack of sidewalk access. Pedestrians who do not cross at designated crosswalks or follow other traffic laws can also increase their risk of being hit by a vehicle. Finally, drivers impaired by alcohol, drugs or fatigue often have difficulty judging the speed and distance of other vehicles and objects on the road, thus increasing their chances of striking pedestrians.

Recover Compensation Following a Pedestrian Injury Accident

When a pedestrian is injured in an accident, they may be entitled to compensation. A lawyer can help them recover the maximum amount of financial compensation available under the law. First, an attorney will investigate all aspects of the accident including any traffic violations that may have been committed by either the driver or pedestrian. They will collect evidence, such as photos of the scene and witness statements to prove fault and liability for the accident.

The attorney can also help negotiate with insurance companies to get fair compensation for their clients. It is important to note that often insurance companies are not willing to pay full compensation without proper legal representation. In addition to financial compensation, an experienced lawyer can also help ensure that justice is served by holding those responsible for your injuries accountable for their negligence.
