Pedestrian Injured in Accident at Antelope Road Intersection

A hit-and-run with injuries occurred in Antelope on February 28 in an accident with a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the collision around 3:51 in the afternoon at the intersection of Antelope and Roseville roads. However, the individual who was struck phoned police to report the incident from another location and said that it happened at Watt and Orange Grove avenues.

Pedestrian Calls Authorities After Hit-and-Run Injury

The pedestrian in question said they had suffered an injury in the rib area. Information was not provided on whether the pedestrian was treated at the scene or transported to a local hospital for additional treatment. The CHP is investigating the accident to determine how it occurred and locate the fleeing driver.

Identifying a Fleeing Driver After a Hit-and-Run

If a motorist flees the scene after an accident, it is vital to find that driver so that an injured party can file a claim for compensation. When injured by another motorist, the recovery process is difficult enough. A party at fault for an accident should be responsible for paying the medical bills, lost wages and compensating the injured party for their pain and suffering. Many times, we have been successful in finding drivers who fled an accident scene. In order to find a hit-and-run driver, we use the following methods:

  • The accident site is the first place our investigators go to collect evidence. Photographs are taken of the scene as well as looking for paint marks and metal fragments dropped from the vehicle. It is possible to identify the make and model of a vehicle using those items since they belong to a particular model year and manufacturer.
  • It is often possible to determine who was at fault for the collision by performing accident reconstruction. This type of evidence demonstrates how the hit-and-run occurred and can identify who was at fault.
  • In order to determine if the accident was captured on film, traffic surveillance cameras are inspected. In these cases, video footage can be used to find out how the accident occurred and what vehicle caused it.
  • To ensure that it is accurate, the investigators review the accident report filed by the police. If any mistakes are made, the accident claim may be affected.
  • Those who witnessed the accident are interviewed by the investigators. The vehicle that fled the scene can often be described or identified by witnesses. In some cases, the driver may also be identifiable. In addition, witnesses have been known to film accidents on their cell phones as they occurred.

The Cost of Accident Injuries Can Be Covered By Insurance

The injured party may be able to collect compensation by using their uninsured/underinsured insurance policy if the driver is located but is unable to pay for the accident injuries. California drivers who purchase auto insurance are offered this policy as an add-on. Alternatively, if the injured person does not have this policy but a family member does, that can be used instead. In the future, the rate will not be changed.
