PATTERSON, CA – A tragic accident claimed the life of a Turlock man Monday morning following a collision between a Toyota sedan and a tractor-trailer near Patterson.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 10:14 a.m. near the intersection of South Carpenter Road and Monte Vista Avenue.
Sadly, the 34-year-old driver of the Toyota succumbed to his injuries at the site of the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
Preliminary reports indicate that the tractor-trailer was traveling south on Carpenter Road when it collided with the Toyota, which was heading east on Monte Vista Avenue and approaching a stop sign. The impact struck the left side of the Toyota, pushing the vehicle off the roadway. The tractor-trailer came to rest partially off the east edge of South Carpenter Road.
Authorities are still investigating whether the Toyota came to a complete stop before entering the intersection.
CHP confirmed that all individuals involved were wearing seatbelts, and at this time, there is no indication that drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the man who lost his life in this heartbreaking incident.
