Head-On Collision Safety on Rural Roads

Head-on crashes can cause catastrophic injuries because vehicles traveling in opposite directions may strike each other with significant combined force. Rural roads can present additional risks due to limited lighting, curves, narrow shoulders, and higher travel speeds.

Drivers can reduce the risk of serious collisions by staying alert, maintaining their lane, avoiding distractions, and adjusting their speed to roadway and visibility conditions.
