Pedestrian Struck Near Eureka Way and Market St in Redding

A 47-year-old woman pedestrian struck near Eureka Way and Market St in Redding was hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle on Monday afternoon, September 21, 2026.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the area at approximately 3:40 p.m. following reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision.

Woman Transported to Mercy Medical Center

According to initial emergency reports, the impact caused the pedestrian to land on the hood of the vehicle and strike the windshield.

The woman suffered a laceration to the back of her head. She was initially reported to have a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 15, indicating that she was alert and responsive. However, emergency personnel subsequently noted that she was becoming increasingly lethargic.

Paramedics transported the woman to Mercy Medical Center under an emergency response for further evaluation and treatment.

Cause of Redding Pedestrian Accident Under Investigation

Initial reports did not provide information about what led to the collision or whether the driver remained at the scene.

Additional details regarding the vehicle involved, the pedestrian’s direction of travel, and the circumstances immediately preceding the crash were not available.

Authorities may review physical evidence, witness accounts, surveillance footage, and other available information to determine how the collision occurred.

Pedestrian Safety at Intersections

Intersections can present significant risks for pedestrians because vehicles may be approaching or turning from several directions. Drivers should carefully check crosswalks and surrounding areas before proceeding through an intersection or making a turn.

Pedestrians can also improve their visibility by using designated crossings when available, remaining alert to approaching traffic, and making sure drivers have seen them before entering the roadway.

Why Hiring a Pedestrian Accident Attorney Can Help

Pedestrians can suffer serious injuries even in collisions occurring at relatively low speeds because they have little physical protection from the force of an impact.

After a pedestrian accident, an attorney can investigate the circumstances of the collision, obtain available evidence, evaluate insurance coverage, and document the injured person’s medical treatment and other accident-related losses.
