Three killed in head-on crash on Highway 113 near Dixon as people lost their lives on Friday morning, July 31, 2026, along Highway 113 north of Hay Road and south of Dixon in Solano County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Three Fatalities Reported Following Head-On Collision

The crash was reported at approximately 6:35 a.m. after the California Highway Patrol received notification from the Golden Gate Communications Center. While officers were responding, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office advised that multiple people at the scene were unresponsive.

Investigators determined that the driver and passenger of a red pickup truck died at the scene. Fire personnel also confirmed that the driver of a gray pickup truck sustained fatal injuries.

Preliminary Investigation

According to witness statements, the red pickup truck was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed and entered the opposing lane while attempting to pass other vehicles. The truck then collided head-on with the gray pickup truck.

Authorities also reported that, before the fatal collision, the red pickup allegedly sideswiped a big rig. The driver of the commercial truck was not injured.

Investigation Ongoing

Highway 113 remained closed for several hours while investigators documented the scene and cleared the wreckage. The roadway has since reopened.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal collision.

Passing Safely on Two-Lane Highways

Passing on two-lane highways requires clear visibility, adequate distance, and careful judgment. Attempting to pass in unsafe conditions or at excessive speeds can result in devastating head-on collisions. Drivers should only pass when it is legal and safe to do so and should never enter opposing traffic unless the roadway is completely clear.
