SONORA, CA — Two people were seriously hurt following a head-on collision Thursday evening in the 1200 block of Mono Way in Sonora.

According to the Sonora Police Department, a 2021 Hyundai Elantra operated by a 30-year-old man from Jamestown was traveling westbound when it crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a 2015 Hyundai Sonata operated by a 60-year-old woman from Twain Harte.

Both drivers sustained moderate to major injuries and were rushed by ambulance to Central Valley hospitals, where they are receiving medical care. Authorities report that the incident is under investigation as a possible DUI-related crash. At this time, no further details have been released.
