Off-Road Accidents and Their Causes
Off-road accidents can occur due to causes other than driver error, including vehicle defects, hazardous road conditions, and unexpected obstacles. These non-driver-related factors significantly contribute to run-off-road crashes and can result in severe injuries or fatalities.
Vehicle Defects
Mechanical failures are a leading cause of an off-road crash near Ukiah, unrelated to driver mistakes. Common issues include brake failures, tire blowouts, defective steering or suspension systems, and electrical malfunctions. In these cases, the manufacturer may be held responsible by filing an auto product liability claim. Retaining the vehicle is important in these cases, so it can be examined for defects.
Road Conditions
Hazardous or poorly maintained infrastructure, such as potholes, uneven pavement, inadequate signage, or missing guardrails, can also contribute to vehicles leaving the roadway. The government entity in charge of roadway maintenance and design may be held responsible in these cases. However, the time limit to file for these types of claims is six months, so getting help from an accident lawyer is advised.
Roadway Obstacles
Items that have fallen from another vehicle or livestock in the roadway may also lead to an off-road crash near Ukiah, resulting in serious injuries. In some cases, the authorities or an attorney may be able to determine how the fallen object ended up in the roadway and hold the driver responsible. In the case of livestock in the roadway, the owner of the animals may be liable.
