Two people killed in fatal rollover crash on Highway 49 near Placerville. On Sunday, August 10, 2025, a fatal rollover accident occurred just south of Placerville on Highway 49 near Post Street. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash took place around 7:15 p.m. when a 2009 Nissan Pathfinder veered off the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned. The impact caused the vehicle to roll and block the highway.

Tragically, two occupants were ejected from the SUV and succumbed to their injuries at the scene. A third occupant, a 72-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Marshall Hospital for treatment. CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident.
