Toyota Tacoma Recall
A recent recall has been issued by Toyota for approximately 250,000 units of their popular model pickup trucks. The recall concludes that the rear wheels of the vehicle may lock up while driving which may cause serious injury or even death if the automobile defect results in an accident.
Why?
Toyota has issued a recall for their trending Tacoma pickup trucks due to a safety concern. The concern originates from the rear wheels of the pickup truck which may lock up, causing motorists to lose control.
According to Toyota, oil may leak from the rear differential. The leak may damage components and even cause the differential to lock up and prevent the wheels from moving. A differential is vital to the engineering of a vehicle because it allows the wheels to travel at different speeds while turning.
Which Vehicles are Affected by the Recall?
The recall covers certain Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks from 2016 to 2017.
How Will Toyota Fix the Problem?
Toyota dealers will conduct an inspection of the affected Tacoma trucks. If there are no leaks to be found, the fasteners will be readjusted to a tighter fit. If there is a leak, new fasteners will be installed along with a gasket replacement. Toyota will also issue replacements for any damaged parts of the differential.
