Pedestrian Struck By Car On Power Inn Road

Pedestrian Accident in South Sacramento Fog

Both driver and pedestrian must follow rules of the road.  A driver is usually held to a higher degree of duty than a pedestrian. What happens when fog is a factor in an accident?

How can we protect ourselves, as pedestrians, from being hit and killed by a car? How can we protect ourselves, as motorists, from hitting or killing someone with our car? These are the questions we may be asking ourselves.

Whether you are walking or jogging, or driving a vehicle,  it is important to be alert. This is the first step if you want to protect yourself as a pedestrian. This is also the first step if you want to protect yourself as a motorist. Stay alert. Stay off the phone. Reduce speed. Give pedestrians the right of way. Keep focused on the roadway and your immediate surroundings. Use crosswalks when available. If it all sounds like common sense then why are there so many pedestrian accidents?

Watch Youtube Video: Driving Tips & Road Safety: How to Drive in Fog.

In this brief video, we are reminded that driving in the fog is like driving blind. Remember to avoid using high beams in foggy road conditions. Allow plenty of time to reach your destination in inclement weather. Keep a focused eye on the road way so you do not end up rear ending the car in front of you. Drive slow and cautious, leaving ample room between you and the car in front of you.

The first step in reducing pedestrian accidents is to stay alert of your surroundings at all times. This is true for both driver and pedestrian.
