Vehicle Crashes Into Pedestrian in North Davis

On Tuesday, January 26, 2021, one person suffered major injuries after she was struck by a car in North Davis. The Davis Police Department (DPD) reported that the accident happened at night on a residential street and that the woman was hospitalized following the incident. Her medical condition has not been reported by hospital staff, and the crash is under DPD investigation. No other people were injured in the collision.

Crash Details

The accident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Grande Avenue and Solita Street. The pedestrian was reportedly outside walking her dog when she was struck by a passing vehicle. Further information about the circumstances surrounding the collision haven’t been reported so far. Reports indicated that weather conditions were wet but not pouring rain when the collision happened.

Response

Police were called regarding the crash immediately and rushed emergency teams to the scene. At the location, response officials found the woman was seriously hurt and had her driven to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento for immediate medical attention. Whether or not the dog was injured during the crash was unclear.

Investigation of North Davis Crash

According to DPD, the driver involved in the crash pulled over, remained at the accident scene, and cooperated with officers during preliminary investigations. However, at this time, there has not been a report regarding suspected collision factors. Often, crashes like this one are the fault of factors not under pedestrian or driver influence. These kinds of factors often include poorly lit roads, car part defects, lack of pedestrian infrastructure, and more. With all of these factors, parties not physically present at the accident scene, such as car part manufacturers, may be considered at-fault parties to the crash.

Pedestrian Injuries

Pedestrians are liable to suffer a wide range of injuries, even in collisions that would have been minor between two passenger vehicles. Many of the most common injury types pedestrians sustain can have a major impact on their lives, necessitating extensive medical care, long recovery periods, and possibly leading to a sudden, major loss of wages. In many cases, these issues cause crash survivors to worry over how they can afford to recover and continue with their lives after their accident.

Getting Help

Because the above-described issues are serious, it is important that crash survivors get help. For this reason, it’s best to call a Davis pedestrian accident lawyer as soon as you are able if you’ve been struck by a car. In many cases, injured pedestrians can recover full compensation for both economic and personal damages by filing personal injury claims.
