Vehicle and Motorhome Accident Occurs on Lakeview Drive

A motorhome accident involving another vehicle occurred in Clearlake Oaks on July 14 that caused injuries when one of the drivers fled the scene. The collision happened at the intersection of Lakeview Drive with Plaza Drive around 12:37 p.m. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers arrived to find a vehicle on its side with a female still inside.

Witness Takes Photos at Motorhome Accident Scene

The intersection was blocked by the crash. However, a witness spoke to the suspect and took photos as their vehicle continued up Lakeview Drive. The injured party was transported to a hospital for medical care. Authorities with the CHP traffic collision unit are investigating to locate the hit-and-run driver in the motorhome accident.

Injuries That Can Occur in a Rollover Accident

The violent nature of a rollover can cause severe and even fatal injuries to those involved, particularly when involved in a motorhome accident due to its much larger size. Common injuries that can occur in a rollover accident include:

  • Head trauma – Head trauma is often the most severe injury resulting from a rollover accident due to the forces involved. Head trauma can range from a mild concussion to severe traumatic brain injury, depending on the severity of the collision and if any objects penetrate or make contact with the head, especially if a roof crush occurs.
  • Neck and back injuries – Neck and back injuries are also common in rollover accidents due to a whiplash-like motion during a crash. Neck and back injuries can range from a slight strain to more severe spinal cord injury, depending on the severity of the collision and any objects that may penetrate or make contact with the head and neck.
  • Broken bones – Broken bones are also common in rollover accidents due to the violent nature of the crash. Arms, legs, and ribs are particularly vulnerable to fracturing due to direct contact with the vehicle or other objects.
  • Soft tissue damage – Soft tissue damage is a common type of injury resulting from a rollover accident, as the force of the crash can cause muscles and ligaments to tear or strain. Such injuries can be painful and debilitating and, in some cases, may require surgery.
  • Burns are a potential type of injury that can occur in a rollover accident. Such injuries often occur when the vehicle catches fire or is exposed to extreme heat. Depending on their location and severity, Burns can range from mild to severe.
