Vallejo Wreck Hospitalizes Three

I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo car accident lawyer. On Tuesday, February 7, 2017, a five-car accident in Vallejo sent three individuals to the hospital.

Incident Details

At around 8:30 a.m. officers of the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) received a report indicating that a traffic collision resulting in traumatic injuries had occurred at the intersection of Sonoma Boulevard and Tennessee Street near Nation’s Hamburgers and El Mexican Barberia.

A spokesman from the VPD reported that a white Lexus sedan had been driving as fast as 70 miles per hour on the southbound side of Sonoma Boulevard when the Lexus collided with a government owned truck from the Greater Vallejo Recreation District, at the intersection of Sonoma and Nebraska Street, causing significant damages to the government vehicle.

Hit-and-run

After colliding with the truck, the Lexus sped away from the accident and continued to drive south at high speeds on Sonoma. Officers indicated that the vehicle was seen running red lights as well as driving in the oncoming lanes of the road.

Second Collision

Once the Lexus reached Tennessee Street, it crashed into a vehicle that had been turning on Sonoma from Tennessee. The impact of this collision incited a chain reaction that caused two other vehicles that had been stopped at the red light on Sonoma to be involved in the accident. The collision was intense enough to completely tear the Lexus in half, flinging each half of the vehicle more than 50 feet away from the other.

Injuries

When they arrived at the scene of the accident, medical responders found that a driver and passenger were both trapped inside of the front half of the Lexus. After they were extricated from the wreck, the occupants of the vehicle were taken to the nearest hospital for urgent treatment of their traumatic injuries. Another victim of the collision was also taken to the hospital.

Police have stated that none of those who were injured were injured severely enough for their lives to be in danger and that the victims were all capable of communicating with emergency responders.

Investigation and Causes

It is not known at this time whether or not drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors to the collision and officials are currently investigating possible causes. It is also not known what, if any, criminal charges might be filed.

Recent Vallejo Accident

This accident has happened only about a week after another accident in Vallejo hospitalized a woman and prompted police to open a DUI investigation. It is important to stay alert while driving and be ready to react if another driver behaves erratically or dangerously.
