Vallejo Crash Injures Child

Hi, I’m Ed Smith, a Vallejo auto accident attorney. On Wednesday morning, November 23, 2016, a car accident in Vallejo resulted in the hospitalization of a 6-year-old child as well as a minor traffic jam by the site of the crash. The accident was reportedly a collision between only two cars; one, a black Impala LS containing the young boy and a male adult relative, the other, a white Buick with post-market wheel rims. The only person reported to be inside the Buick was the driver, an older male. The car crash took place at about 10 a.m. and happened close to the intersection of Sonoma Boulevard and Arkansas Street, near Vallejo Pizza and the S&S Liquor Store.

What Happened?

Upon arriving at the scene of the crash, responders found that the Impala had apparently driven through a metal gate surrounding a townhome near the edge of the street, then crashed into and damaged the wooden porch attached to the outside of the home. The Impala appeared to have sustained major damage to its rear end as a result of the collision, and the front end was crumpled where it had impacted the wooden porch. Damage to the Buick, on the other hand, was relatively minimal, as it showed only minor damage to one of the front headlights and the hood of the car.

What Type of Injuries?

The man in the Impala, as well as the man in the Buick, was found with little to no injury. The child, however, was reported to have been wincing and clutching his stomach. Emergency personnel examined the child immediately and decided that he should be taken to the nearest hospital for treatment. The child was promptly strapped into a gurney and taken to an emergency room in an ambulance. The 6-year-old has since been reported to be in stable condition and not in significant danger of his condition worsening.

Who Caused the Crash?

The cause of the crash, as of now, is uncertain. Both parties involved in the collision offered different accounts of what had caused the auto accident, each apparently arguing that they were not responsible for the accident. An investigation into which of the parties is at fault is ongoing. Additionally, officials have stated that they do not have any reason to believe that this was a drunk driving accident.

Vallejo Car Accidents

This accident has occurred in the wake of several other motor vehicle collisions in the same area. On August 11, 2016, a hit and run in Vallejo caused the death of a 47-year old resident of Richmond. This accident happened on the same street, Sonoma Boulevard, and the criminal charges that were filed are Hit and Run (resulting in a fatality) and Vehicular Manslaughter. An abandoned car, a 2002 Nissan Maxima believed to be the car driven by the suspect at the time of the accident, was found the following day. Almost two weeks later, a suspect in the case turned himself in at the Vallejo Police Department.

Another similar incident in the same area that occurred recently is the death of a driver from San Mateo who, for unknown reasons, veered off of the exit off-ramp for Third Avenue on Highway 101, and came to a complete stop after colliding head-on with a tree. Three passengers in the car, all San Mateo Residents, sustained injuries as a result of the crash. One was rushed to the Stanford University Medical Center by ambulance for the care of severe injuries.
