Two Vallejo Residents Killed in San Pablo Auto Accident

On Friday, October 2, 2020, two Vallejo residents sadly lost their lives following a San Pablo auto accident. The decedents have since been identified by family members as a father and son, 37-year-old Geary Terry Jr., and 70-year-old Geary Terry Sr. Both men were residents of Vallejo. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the collision happened in the evening and involved one vehicle. An investigation into the crash is underway.

Crash Information

The collision reportedly occurred on Highway Interstate 80 at around 6:00 p.m. According to police, a westbound Kia sedan was traveling in the number four lane before it drifted off the highway for unknown reasons. After leaving traffic lanes, the Kia crashed into a concrete structure supporting the over-crossing of San Pablo Dam Road. The crash caused major damage to the vehicle and caused a car fire, which spread quickly. Police indicated that no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Response

Area drivers immediately pulled over in order to help the occupants out of the vehicle. While Good Samaritans were able to extricate the driver, they were unable to remove the passenger from the vehicle. The driver, identified as Geary Terry Jr., was taken to Highland Hospital, where he later tragically lost his life. Geary Terry Sr. was declared deceased on-site.

The family of the deceased has since publicly thanked the individuals who rendered aid at the site, calling the Good Samaritans “heroes.” The Good Samaritans were reportedly invited to attend funeral services so that family members could thank them in person for their selfless actions.

Investigation

While police continue to investigate the potential causes of the collision, there have not yet been any suspected factors mentioned in reports. Even when accidents only involve a single vehicle, they are often still complicated events that are caused by more than one thing. In many cases, these factors include things not under the driver’s control like malfunctioning car parts.

Furthermore, the process of investigating a car accident can be difficult, especially when police aren’t able to interview the driver about what took place. When this happens, investigators may never uncover vital evidence that could have a huge impact on a wrongful death case. Because of this, families should always reach out to an attorney who knows how to use their resources to privately investigate accidents.

Calling a Lawyer

Families experiencing loss after a sudden accident may feel overwhelmed and often experience intense grief. During this time, it can be difficult to focus, and getting in touch with a qualified lawyer may seem like an added stress during an already difficult time. However, having a lawyer early on can be critical to claiming the compensation that your family deserves.
