Sacramento Rush Hour Accidents on I-5 and U.S. 50 Connecter at Broadway

At least one injury was reported in two rush hour accidents that occurred around the same time in Sacramento on March 13. Both accidents occurred at the Interstate 5 north and U.S. 50 connector at Broadway around 8:21 in the morning. The first collision involved a white SUV and a tan-colored vehicle. An individual who called into the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said they saw the SUV merging into traffic when it struck the other car and then a light pole. The light pole fell, however, it did not land on the roadway and did not block traffic.

More Detail on the Rush Hour Accidents

Another collision in the same location and at about the same time involved a Lexus, SUV, Nissan Rogue and Honda, and one other additional vehicle. It is unknown whether the first accident led to the second. Emergency responders with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived at the scene to assess injuries as a result of the rush hour accidents. The CHP is investigating both accidents to determine what happened. At this time, the nature of the individual’s injuries has not been elaborated upon by authorities. The CHP has not said whether drugs or alcohol were seen as causative agents.

Dangers of Driving in Rush Hour Traffic

Most drivers concede that rush hour traffic is dangerous and share some common concerns, including aggressive behavior on the road, the effects of fatigued drivers, and speeding. Tailgating often leads to rear-end accidents. Drivers are instructed to remain far enough apart to avoid hitting the rear of a lead vehicle when and if traffic slows. A significant danger that drivers face is the motorist who changes lanes repeatedly to get to their destination quicker. Overall, the rush hour is the worst time to be on the road. More companies are staggering start and stop times to allow drivers to avoid rush hour traffic. Many commuters are also getting to work in carpools or using public transportation. This saves them from the risk of rush hour accidents by reducing the number of vehicles on the road.

Liability in Rush Hour Accidents

Due to traffic congestion, determining liability in a rush hour accident is complicated. Since drivers often blame each other if a crash happens, it is essential to have a personal injury lawyer at your side. In our firm, we use trained investigators to determine why and how an accident happened. This is essential for a personal injury case to proceed.

How a Lawyer Can Help After a Rush Hour Accident

At our firm, we send our investigators to the scene of the accident to search for evidence of fault. They use accident reconstruction techniques and interview witnesses. The investigators also review police reports for mistakes and obtain video footage from traffic surveillance cameras and nearby businesses. If a business owner or city refuses to hand over the video, our lawyers will obtain a subpoena to make the footage available. Once all evidence is compiled, our investigative team releases it to our lawyers, who use it in putting together a robust case for our client.
