Accident on Fair Oaks Boulevard Injures Driver

A traffic injury occurred in Fair Oaks on November 10 when a vehicle crashed into a light pole. According to authorities with the California Highway Patrol (CHP), it was initially believed to be a single-vehicle crash and occurred around 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of Fair Oaks Boulevard and San Juan Avenue. However, the driver reported that the Volvo she was driving was struck by a vehicle that left the scene and that it was possibly a red sedan.

Driver Taken to Hospital Following Traffic Injury

The driver was injured in the accident and was transported by emergency responders with the Sacramento Fire Department to Mercy San Juan Medical Center for additional treatment and evaluation. The extent of the driver’s injuries was not reported. The vehicle had to be removed by a tow truck. The collision is under investigation to determine the cause.

Hit-and-Run Collisions

Hit-and-runs are as common in our county as they are elsewhere. This is even though a driver involved in an accident that causes property damage, injuries, or fatalities is legally obligated to stay at the accident scene, exchange information, and offer assistance. There are a number of reasons a driver flees the accident scene, including:

  • The driver is unlicensed or uninsured.
  • The driver has outstanding tickets, warrants, or other problems.
  • The vehicle the driver is in is stolen.
  • The driver is intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.
  • The driver simply does not want to face up to their responsibilities and thinks they will not be caught.

Locating a Fleeing Driver

Our law office has a good record of locating a fleeing driver following a traffic accident. In addition to working with local authorities, our investigators search for evidence to locate that driver. In many cases, we are successful. This allows our injured clients to seek compensation for their injuries either from the fleeing driver’s insurance company or in civil court. Some of the ways in which our car accident lawyers work include:

  • The investigators look for film footage of the accident from nearby road and traffic surveillance cameras.
  • They check for evidence of another vehicle at the scene of the traffic injury. This may include tire or skid marks, paint scrapes, metal pieces and other information that can identify the make and model of the vehicle.
  • They talk to eyewitnesses to the collision for corroborating statements.
  • Our investigators review the police report for errors.
  • They perform accident reconstruction, which illustrates the positioning of the vehicles, corresponding damage, and can possibly point to fault.
  • The investigators examine the client’s vehicle for damage and evidence. This is why it is so important to preserve the vehicle following a traffic injury collision.

Our injury lawyers go to work once the evidence is gathered to construct a case that upholds our client’s claim for compensation. It can be used when negotiating with the insurance company or to present in court.

Insurance Coverage Can Help

When California drivers elect to take car insurance, they are offered an optional policy to cover uninsured/underinsured drivers. Many choose to take this coverage because of the high number of drivers in the state who are either uninsured or underinsured. In addition, the policy not only covers car collision injuries, but it also provides the driver with coverage if they are a pedestrian or riding a motorcycle or bicycle

If the person who was injured by a negligent driver or entity does not have this add-on policy and another household member does, that can be used to cover the cost of medical care and more. Using this policy to cover accident injuries does not increase the insurance rate.
