Traffic Fatality and Critical Injury Reported in Sacramento Accident

Freeport Boulevard Single Vehicle Crash Kills One Person and Injures Another

A traffic fatality and serious injury were reported in a single-vehicle collision on September 13 near the Sacramento Executive Airport. The accident was reported by the Sacramento Police Department as occurring at Freeport Boulevard near Blair Avenue around 7:00 in the evening. One of the individuals involved in the collision was pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic Fatality Accident Investigated to Determine Cause

The other person in the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Freeport Boulevard southbound was shut down by police from Blair Avenue to Florin Road as an investigation was conducted into the cause of the accident. Police advised motorists to use alternate routes because the road would probably remain closed for several hours.

Critical Injuries in a Car Accident

Few people who survive critical injuries after a car accident do so without suffering a good deal of pain. Many spend time in the intensive care unit, and others must expend a good deal of energy in rehabilitation therapy. For others, especially those with traumatic brain injuries, long-term disability is a strong possibility. When this happens due to negligence, the injured party has the right to obtain compensation for the financial toll their injuries caused. In addition, they have the right to be compensated for the pain and suffering their accident caused.

Negligence, in this situation, can be due to manufacturer error. This includes the design of the vehicle as well as its construction. Defects in the braking system or steering device can lead to a significant collision. In some cases, the government agency in charge of road defects and maintenance may have set the groundwork for the crash with unmanaged foliage that hides stop signs, poorly cared for streets, or non-functioning street lights.

Whatever the reason for the negligence, your injury lawyer can ensure that a claim against the manufacturer or government agency is properly filed with the courts within the specified deadline.

How a Family Deals With a Traffic Fatality

For most people, hearing that a loved one has died in a traffic fatality is overwhelming. The grief, loneliness, anger, and pain are more than they can bear. Other family members and close friends often wonder what they can do to help. Here are a few ideas, although they may not work for everyone:

  • Call the family home and express your sympathy.
  • Ask if there is anything you can do. For many people, the person’s demise turns their life upside down, and it is difficult to even think about what needs to be done around the home. That is why offering to cut the lawn, pick up items at the cleaners or drugstore helps. So does offering to take children to school or pick them up. The tasks may differ for each family, but the idea is the same.
  • Offer to go grocery shopping. Many families forget to prepare meals, and it is a time when they need to be strong.
  • Prepare an easily warmed-up meal or purchase takeout you know they will enjoy and drop it off at the home. If you are unsure about their diet or even food allergies, call and ask.
  • Plan a visit. Grieving people need to talk, and offering to listen is always welcome. Check with the family before dropping in, and see when it would be convenient.
