Serious Injuries in Nevada County Crash

Officials indicated that at least one person suffered major injuries during a car accident that took place in Nevada County on Friday, June 7, 2019. According to reports, the crash involved only a single vehicle. The number of people who suffered injuries during the accident has not been released by authorities. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has stated that their investigators are attempting to determine what may have played a role in causing the car wreck.

Crash Information

CHP reported that the collision took place on Highway Interstate 80 between the small community of Kingvale and Yuba Pass. The accident was reported at around 10:45 a.m. While details about how the accident happened were not provided, police stated that the collision involved one overturned vehicle. The vehicle reportedly came to a stop inside of the eastbound side of I-80.

Caltrans indicated that the roadway would be closed at the accident scene while a helicopter ambulance landed on the freeway. The ambulance reportedly touched down around 11:00 a.m. in order to transport injured parties to nearby trauma centers. Whether or not the injured individual(s) suffered life-threatening injuries was not reported.

Investigation

After conducting a preliminary investigation of the accident scene, CHP officers indicated that the accident may have been caused by a fatigued driver who fell asleep at the wheel and drifted onto the highway shoulder. However, a full report of suspected accident factors remains unavailable.

Rollover Accident

Rollover accidents are one of the most dangerous types of crash. Safercar.gov reports that rollovers have a higher fatality rate than most other types of collision. Their data indicates that out of around 9 million crashes that take place in the U.S. every year, only two percent involve a rollover. However, rollover account for almost 35 percent of accidents that result in a fatal injury and thousands of people lose their lives during these types of collisions every year.

Rollover accidents are most often deadly when a vehicle occupant neglects to wear a seat belt. However, these accidents are also often deadly because of weak vehicle roofs that fail to keep occupants safe during the collision. In these cases, the manufacturer of the vehicle is sometimes considered a liable party.

Recovering After Serious Injuries

Serious accident injuries can have a dramatic effect on people’s lives. Injuries often leave people with steep medical expenses including surgeries, ambulance rides, medications, and therapy. Additionally, during the process of recovery, many people are unable to work and suffer a significant loss of income. Others are left permanently unable to work and worry about how they will be able to sustain themselves.

While these are pressing concerns, many are able to receive help through personal injury claims. If you think you may have a viable injury claim, the best thing to do is to speak with an experiened Truckee personal injury lawyer who can provide you with expert advice.
