Sacramento Three-Vehicle Collision

A three-vehicle collision occurred in Sacramento in a late night accident along northbound State Route 160 recently that resulted in injuries. The accident happened at the Northgate Boulevard off-ramp just before 11:00 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) report. It involved a gray Dodge Durango, a white truck and a tan-colored Chevy van. Sacramento Fire Department emergency rescue personnel were called to the scene after the report of one person trapped inside a vehicle. Tow trucks were called to remove at least one of the vehicles, and an ambulance was called to the scene. It is unknown at this time how serious the injuries were that were incurred in the crash.

Seeking Help for an Accident Injury

An experienced personal injury lawyer can help an individual, injured in a motor vehicle crash because of someone’s negligence, obtain fair compensation for their injuries. Whether dealing with an insurance company on your behalf or building a strong case to take to court, the goal is to collect sufficient damages to pay for your lost wages, medical care and the pain and suffering you have experienced.

Accidents Involving Multiple Vehicles

It may be difficult to assign fault in a Sacramento three-vehicle collision. An injury lawyer can help by having a forensic expert investigate to determine how the collision happened. Because each driver will have their own insurance company involved, each will be eager to make it appear as though their own client is innocent of any negligence since California is a comparative fault state.

Reasons for a Multiple Vehicle Collision

A three-vehicle collision is common, and negligent actions that can contribute to this type of crash in Sacramento include:

  • Speeding: A major contributor to all varieties of motor vehicle accidents, driving above the speed limit increases the risk of an accident.
  • Drunk driving: Those who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs exhibit poor judgment, visual acuity and the reflexes necessary to drive safely.
  • Drowsy drivers: Those who drive drowsy can fall asleep at the wheel without realizing it or be too unaware of their surroundings to perform safely.
  • Reckless driving: Drivers who run a red light, do not use turn signals, tailgate and other reckless actions can contribute to a three-vehicle collision.
  • Distracted driving: Talking on a cell phone and texting are major causes of car accidents. Other distracted driving behaviors include accessing GPS, changing a radio station and chatting with passengers.

In the following video, personal injury lawyer Ed Smith explains how distracted driving is similar to driving blind:

Accident Investigation by a Personal Injury Lawyer

An injury lawyer accomplishes an investigation of a Sacramento three-vehicle collision by reviewing the police reports, witness accounts, and other evidence and also conducting their own review. A lawyer who has the financial resources to conduct an on-site investigation by using crash reconstruction and who can use expert witnesses to testify on your behalf, along with other technologies, can help the injured person obtain the damages they deserve and need.
