Injury Accident on Bradshaw Road Involves Sacramento Scooter Rider

A Sacramento scooter rider suffered severe injuries on February 20 after being struck by an SUV on Bradshaw Road. The collision happened between Gerber Road and Vintage Park Drive around 6:18 p.m. An incident report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said the accident involved a Lexus SUV and moped.

Fault in Sacramento Scooter Rider Injury Accident Being Determined

Medics dispatched by the Sacramento Fire Department assessed the pedestrian’s injuries following the scooter incident. Their evaluation revealed significant injuries, prompting the patient’s transportation to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. Meanwhile, California Highway Patrol (CHP) traffic crash detectives have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

Mopeds and Motor Vehicle Collisions

Mopeds are small, slower-moving vehicles than most, so motor vehicle drivers can become involved in accidents involving a Sacramento scooter rider. In addition, mopeds are less stable than motorcycles due to their smaller wheels, making it easy for the rider to fall or hit debris that causes an accident.

How Motor Vehicle Drivers Cause Accidents With Mopeds

Due to their limited visibility, motor vehicle drivers must remain vigilant to detect pedestrians and scooter riders. The majority of collisions result from driver negligence, which includes:

  • Distracted driving, such as talking on a cell phone, texting, or engaging in other activities, significantly contributes to accidents.
  • Intoxication, whether due to alcohol or drugs, impairs a driver’s ability to safely operate a vehicle, leading to accidents.
  • Speeding is a common cause of collisions as it may result in loss of control or the inability to stop to avoid crashing into another vehicle or pedestrian.
  • Fatigue poses a similar risk to intoxication, impairing a driver’s abilities and making them hazardous on the roadways.

What Compensation Can I Claim if a Negligent Driver Injures Me?

Personal injury claims allow those who have suffered trauma caused by the negligence of a motorist or other entity to recover the following:

  • An injured Sacramento scooter rider can recover all the medical expenses due to their injury. Covered medical expenses include hospitalization, associated costs, out-of-pocket monies paid to attend doctors’ appointments, and gas mileage.
  • Wages are recoverable if the injured person could not work because of their accident and received no pay. They can also receive compensation for the time spent on unpaid sick or vacation leave. They can recover the salary difference if they have to take a lesser-paying job due to their injury. Those who are permanently injured and can no longer work can recover their wages until retirement.
  • Compensation for pain and suffering includes both the physical trauma and emotional stress the injured party endured due to their accident.

An injury lawyer can review your case at no charge, and if you can file a claim, they can collect the evidence needed to support it. In addition, they can negotiate on your behalf with the at-fault party’s insurance company and will work hard to help you get the compensation you deserve.
