Sacramento Multiple Vehicle Accident

Sacramento Multiple Vehicle Accident – A Sacramento multiple vehicle accident occurred on September 28 at the intersection of 53rd Avenue and 65th Street when it was reported that one vehicle T-boned another. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident involved three vehicles, resulting in multiple injuries. About an hour after the collision, one party was reported as still being trapped inside their vehicle, while members of the Sacramento Fire Department worked to extricate them.

Details of the Sacramento Multiple Vehicle Accident

The accident happened shortly after 11:00 in the morning at the intersection, which is located in the Florin area. This is when a Ford Explorer was broadsided by one of two Honda Accents that were also involved. The collision caused a traffic hazard, and the fire company blocked off northbound 65th Street as a result. It was reported by Sac Fire that there were six individuals injured in the crash, including one who suffered serious injuries. Members of the Sacramento Police Department were on the scene, assisting. Authorities will be investigating the cause of the collision.

Intersections and a Sacramento Multiple Vehicle Accident

It has been reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that there were 956 fatalities in California as a result of vehicular accidents in 2016 that occurred in intersections. More than 56 of those fatalities occurred in Sacramento County. The Federal Highway Administration reported that around 40 percent of all traffic collisions happen in intersections, which is the second most common type of car accident following rear-end crashes.

Liability in Sacramento Multiple Vehicle Accident

It is an onerous task to determine who was at fault in a multiple vehicle accident. The more vehicles that are involved, the more complex it is. Often, an injury lawyer will have forensic experts who will investigate a crash, and by using computer-driven models, determine the way the accident happened. Since multiple drivers with their own insurance companies are involved, there are generally conflicting opinions over who was at fault for the accident. Sometimes, multiple drivers share fault under California’s comparative fault system. This allows drivers to share the liability and the expenses.

Causes of a Sacramento Multiple Vehicle Accident

Some common reasons for multiple vehicle accidents are:

  • Intoxicated drivers: Such drivers are distracted, drowsy and reckless.
  • Speeding: Driving at an unsafe speed can initiate a multiple vehicle accident.
  • Drowsy drivers: All it takes is for a driver to close their eyes for a few seconds for a chain of events leading to a multi-vehicle accident to start.
  • Bad weather conditions: This is one of the chief causes of a multiple vehicle accident.
  • Changing lanes erratically: Drivers who change lanes without checking on the flow of traffic around them often precipitate a multivehicle accident.
  • Large trucks: When a big rig is involved in an accident, multiple vehicles are too due to the size of the truck.
  • Aggressive drivers: Aggressive drivers do not respect others on the road and often weave in and out of the lane. This can cause multiple vehicles to crash.
