Collision on S.R. 99 Near Off-Ramp Involves Six Vehicles

A multiple-vehicle accident in Sacramento on March 7 caused at least one injury. The collision was reported on northbound State Route 99 at the Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard off-ramp around 9:21 a.m. and involved six vehicles. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) report stated that some vehicles were found on the right-hand side of the roadway while others were blocking several lanes.

One Patient Examined for Possible Head Injury

Several of the vehicles were smoking badly from the impact of the collision. Sacramento Fire Department emergency responders were called to the scene to assess injuries. One patient had a complaint of pain in their head. No additional information on the injury was provided. An investigation into the cause of the incident is underway to determine how the collision occurred and to assign fault.

Head Injuries in a Multiple-Vehicle Accident

In a multiple-vehicle collision, head injuries are more likely to occur due to the increased force of the impact. This is because when two or more vehicles collide, there is an increase in the speed and amount of energy that is released when they come into contact with each other. The increased force can lead to significant impacts on the head and neck, resulting in traumatic brain injuries (TBIs).

These can range from mild concussions to more serious complications such as broken bones in the skull or bleeding inside the brain. In severe cases, a person may experience long-term effects such as impaired hearing, vision, speech or cognition.

Medical Attention Following a Multiple-Vehicle Crash

It is important for anyone involved in a multiple-vehicle accident to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Even if the person does not seem particularly injured, they could suffer from a head injury that is not evident at first glance. Symptoms of TBIs can range from mild confusion and headaches to unconsciousness, seizures or paralysis of body parts. If any of these symptoms are present, it is essential to seek medical help right away.

Contacting a Lawyer About a Multiple-Vehicle Accident

In addition to seeking immediate medical attention, drivers involved in multiple-vehicle crashes should also contact a lawyer specializing in personal injury cases. Such professionals can help ensure that the person receives the compensation they deserve for any trauma sustained during the accident, including head injuries. With their help, the injured person can be sure they receive the financial support they need.

Multiple-Vehicle Accident Liability

In an accident involving multiple vehicles, liability is more complex. A number of other drivers may have been negligent, which may have contributed to the accident. For example, a speeding or tailgating driver could not stop to avoid colliding with another.

There may also be negligence by the government entity responsible for maintaining the road. An injured party has only six months to file a government claim, so getting help from an accident attorney might be a good idea. Auto defects, such as brakes or tire blowouts, can also cause multiple-vehicle accidents, which means a product liability claim might be filed. You can obtain compensation from all negligent parties if you hire an accident attorney who examines all aspects of a collision.
