Injuries Occur in El Dorado Freeway Fleeing Driver Accident

A fleeing driver accident in Sacramento on March 30 involved three vehicles and left at least one person injured. The crash happened on eastbound U.S. 50 at the North Watt Avenue on-ramp. A SigAlert was issued warning motorists that a collision had occurred blocking the lanes, that they should use alternate routes, and that they should expect delays.

Fleeing Driver Accident Caused Trauma to at Least One Person

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said the accident involved a Tesla, an SUV and a sedan. The SUV was left sideways, blocking the number one and two lanes. The other vehicles were on the right-hand side of the roadway. Sacramento Fire Department medics attended to a 30-year-old male with chest pain. Whether that patient was transported to a hospital was unreported.

Investigation Being Conducted to Determine Accident Cause

The roadway was clear for passing traffic at 11:46 a.m. CHP traffic accident detectives are investigating the cause of the accident.

Recovering Compensation in a Collision

Anytime an accident occurs involving several vehicles, it’s important to determine liability so an injured person can recover the compensation they deserve. Part of an accident attorney’s job is to determine which drivers were negligent and caused an accident. When it becomes a fleeing driver accident, they will also work hard to locate that driver so they can be held responsible. Investigation techniques used include:

  • Investigators photograph the scene and recover any evidence left behind, such as paint marks from the fleeing driver accident.
  • They perform accident reconstruction, which can indicate which motorists are at fault.
  • Surveillance cameras are examined to see if the accident was captured when it happened. Camera evidence can help point toward fault and also help identify the motorist who fled the scene.
  • Any witnesses to the collision are interviewed for information. In a few cases, a witness taped the accident as it occurred, which can help prove fault and locate the missing motorist.
  • The police report is examined to check their information.

What Compensation Is Recoverable After an Accident?

If a negligent driver caused your accident, you have the right to recover damages. After all, why should you pay for an injury that wasn’t your fault? Recoverable damages include all of the medical expenses that arise because of your trauma, wages you lost because you could not work, and compensation for your physical and emotional pain and suffering.

What if I Can’t Afford to Hire an Accident Attorney?

Accident attorneys work on a contingency basis. This means that they charge a certain percentage of what you recover in your claim. However, there are two bonuses to this.

First of all, if they don’t win your case, they recover nothing. Second, by using an accident lawyer, those who are injured often recover two to three times what they would have if they handled the case themselves. So, as you can see, you have nothing to lose.

In addition, an accident lawyer can gather the evidence supporting your claim and negotiate with the at-fault party’s insurance company on your behalf. This allows you to recover from your trauma in peace without worry.
