A major injury motorcycle crash occurred in the Sloughhouse area south of Folsom on July 9. The accident occurred along Scott Road around 5:34 a.m. between the rider and a motor vehicle. When officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reached the accident scene, they discovered the male motorcycle rider in the roadway and not moving.

Reporting Person States Motorcycle Ran Into Their Vehicle

According to the reporting person, their vehicle was struck by the motorcycle, which was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time. Sacramento Fire Department emergency responders arrived at the scene to assess injuries to the rider and deal with one of the vehicles, which was smoking. Major injuries were determined to have occurred as a result of the crash.

Major Injury Motorcycle Crash Being Investigated

All of Scott Road was closed to traffic, and both vehicles were towed as injuries were assessed and the roadway cleared. Determination of the cause of the collision and fault is being investigated by the CHP traffic accident division.

Motorcycle Accident Causes That Include a Crash With a Motor Vehicle

Motorcycle accidents with motor vehicles can happen for a number of reasons. However, the main cause of a motorcycle collision with a motor vehicle occurs when the car is making a left turn in front of the rider. These accidents often happen because the driver misjudges the distance and speed of the approaching motorcycle. Other reasons accidents occur that are not the fault of the rider include the following:

  • The motorist is tailgating the motorcycle and cannot stop in time to avoid a collision.
  • The motorist stops short, which leads to a major injury motorcycle crash when the rider is ejected.
  • The motorcyclist is lane-splitting, and the driver doesn’t check their side-view mirror before changing lanes.
  • The motorist runs a red light or stop sign, causing a major injury motorcycle crash in an intersection.

Investigation of the Crash

The key to placing a successful claim for compensation is to conduct a thorough investigation. In the event of an accident, our investigators immediately begin searching for evidence at the scene. Included in this are:

  • Taking photos and measurements of the accident scene
  • Investigating the accident through forensic reconstruction
  • Interviewing witnesses
  • Verifying that the police report is accurate
  • Investigating traffic cameras that may have filmed the motorcycle accident
  • Investigating recalls and consumer complaints regarding the motorcycle, as well as inspecting it for defects
  • Inspecting the road for debris, potholes or other signs of poor maintenance by a government agency

Our attorneys build a strong case for our clients’ compensation after gathering the evidence. When negotiating with the insurance company on behalf of our client, we use this information to prove fault. We can, however, take the insurance company to court in the event it refuses to pay out what will cover the expenses of our client.
