Rosemont Bus Accident on Folsom Blvd.

A bus accident that involved two other vehicles occurred in Rosemont on December 10 at the intersection of westbound Folsom Boulevard and Norcade Circle. An individual in one of the vehicles reported that they had struck their head on the windshield during the crash and an ambulance was called. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be investigating the crash to determine fault and why it happened.

Details of the Three Vehicle Rosemont Bus Accident

The crash happened at around 4:30 in the afternoon and involved a Volkswagen, a Sacramento city bus and a Ford Mustang. Both of the westbound lanes along Folsom Boulevard were blocked by the accident, and tow trucks were needed to remove both the Volkswagen and Mustang. In addition, it was reported that toxicology had been contacted by authorities, so it is possible that either drugs or alcohol was suspected of being a factor in the accident.

Being Compensated for Injuries in an Accident

A collision with other vehicles or a Rosemont bus accident can cause severe injuries. However, it is important to be able to correctly place fault in order to collect fair compensation. This is what an experienced injury lawyer does by gathering evidence, using technologies and experts to determine exactly how it happened and preparing a case that will assure that the injured person receives the compensation they need and deserve.

Collisions Involving Large Vehicles

Although any variety of motor vehicle accident can cause injuries when it involves a much larger vehicle such as a bus, the types of trauma can be amplified. In addition, instead of just involving owners of private vehicles, it can include a company or city owned bus, where compensation is pursued in a different way than other accidents. In this case, the city or county may be held responsible for accident injuries.

Government Claims

Government claims have a much shorter timeline to file due to the statute of limitations. After notifying the government entity, they have 45 days in which to respond. If they deny the claim, the injured party has six months to file a lawsuit. If they do not respond to the initial claim at all, the plaintiff has two years to file a lawsuit. This is one of the reasons why it is important to contact an experienced lawyer for help and advice.

Who Can be Involved in a Rosemont Bus Accident?

Not just passengers on the bus can be injured in an accident. These can be any of the following:

  • Pedestrians:  Due to the number of people walking in an urban environment, it is difficult for a bus driver to navigate through crowded streets. This is why bus drivers require training by the company that employs them.
  • Occupants in other vehicles: The occupants of vehicles who share the road with a common carrier can be injured in an accident with a bus.
  • Bicycle riders: Bicyclists are common in intersections and along the roads in most cities. It is important to give a bus space since they have larger blind spots than other vehicles.

Reasons a Rosemont Bus Accident Happens

Bus drivers can cause an accident due to negligent behavior. Some common reasons for a bus accidents are:

  • Fatigued drivers: Bus drivers often work long hours without proper rest or take over another driver’s shift.
  • Impaired drivers: An impaired bus driver may not be able to drive with the same care. This can be caused by imbibing alcohol, taking illegal or legal drugs or even over-the-counter medications.
  • Distracted drivers: Bus drivers are not permitted to use cell phones for non-emergency calls or texts.
