Vulnerability of Pedestrians in an Accident Involving a Motor Vehicle

Pedestrians are among our most vulnerable to severe accident injuries in a collision with a motor vehicle. Unfortunately, these accidents occur far too often. Many times, the vehicle driver was negligent and caused the collision. Some of the types of negligence exhibited by motorists include the following:

  • Texting while driving is a major cause of an accident involving a pedestrian.
  • Speed contributes to many collisions because the driver does not have time to swerve or stop.
  • Impairment leads to collisions because the driver cannot safely control a vehicle.
  • Fatigue is a problem after dark because the driver is too tired to focus on the road and their surroundings.
