Placerville Collision Kills El Dorado Hills Man
Police reports indicate that a Placerville collision left one person with fatal injuries on Sunday, October 13, 2019. Authorities of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office have indicated that the decedent was a 63-year-old man and resident of the community of El Dorado Hills. The man’s identity will be released after his family is notified. In addition to the decedent, a 19-year-old El Dorado Hills male also received injuries during the collision. Reports indicate that the young man was hospitalized after the incident. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that they are actively investigating this car accident.
Crash Details
CHP stated that this accident happened at around 8:20 a.m. The 63-year-old man had been driving southbound in a 2009 Ford Ranger on State Route 49 close to the intersection of Lauren Lane just south of the city of Placerville. The truck was reportedly traveling at around 50 miles per hour when it veered to the left and crossed over oncoming highway lanes. The vehicle eventually left the road and drove down a steep embankment before it struck an oak tree.
CHP dispatched response personnel to the location of the accident immediately after receiving notification. Upon arriving, emergency responders discovered that both occupants of the Ford had suffered injuries. The driver of the vehicle was found with critical trauma and responders called for a helicopter to rush him to the Sutter-Roseville Hospital for emergent care. Sadly, the man passed away while in hospital custody. The vehicle passenger was transported by ground ambulance to the Marshall Hospital for treatment of significant trauma.
Investigation
CHP has stated that they are looking into what may have caused the vehicle to drive off the road. While no suspected factors have been reported so far, police have mentioned that they do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
