Causes of a Pedestrian Injury in a Parking Lot

There are many potential causes of a pedestrian injury by a car in a parking lot. Inattention by either the driver or the pedestrian is often to blame. Distractions such as cell phones can also contribute to accidents. Speeding and aggressive driving can also be factors, as can poor lighting or weather conditions. Poorly marked or designed parking lots can also lead to pedestrian accidents.

Staying Safe to Avoid Pedestrian Accidents

In order to avoid suffering a pedestrian injury in a parking lot accident, it is important to be aware of your surroundings at all times. Pay attention to traffic, and do not assume that drivers will see you. When possible, cross at designated crosswalks or intersections. Be especially cautious at night or in bad weather. And finally, if you are a driver, take extra care to look out for pedestrians when entering or exiting a parking space.

Pedestrian Leg Injuries That Can Be Caused by a Negligent Driver

As a pedestrian, you are vulnerable to being hit and seriously injured by a negligent driver. One of the most common types of pedestrian trauma that can be caused by such an accident is a leg injury. While some leg injuries may be minor, others can be quite serious, leading to long-term pain and disability.

Some of the most common types of a pedestrian injury that can be caused by a negligent driver include fractures, dislocations and soft tissue injuries. Fractures are particularly common in pedestrian accidents, as the force of being hit by a car can cause bones to break. Dislocations occur when bones are forced out of their normal positions, while soft tissue injuries involve damage to muscles, tendons or ligaments.

Seeking Medical Attention

If you have been hit by a car and have suffered any type of leg injury, it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible. In many cases, surgery may be necessary to repair the damage. In addition, you may need physical therapy to help you regain strength and mobility in your leg.

Filing a Personal Injury Claim

Medical expenses, wages lost from time off work, and pain and suffering may be compensated if you have been injured by a negligent driver. An experienced personal injury attorney can help you understand your rights and options and fight for the compensation you deserve.
