One Dead Following North Napa Crash

One person tragically lost their lives in a north Napa crash that took place on Sunday, February 9, 2020. The decedent has since been identified as Scott Harris, a 52-year-old man from Windsor in Sonoma County. Napa Police Department (NPD) officers indicated that the crash only involved one vehicle and took place in the early evening.

Crash Information

The accident happened at around 4:15 p.m. at the Vintage at Napa apartment complex. Harris had been driving a Honda Pilot with three passengers when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle ran off the road. After running off the road, the Honda traveled over a large yard and crashed into a nearby apartment, causing damage to the structure and the vehicle.

Response

A Napa Fire Department spokesperson indicated that responders found Harris in his vehicle with serious injuries. Harris was placed on an ambulance and driven to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center. Tragically, he lost his life while in hospital custody about 45 minutes after the collision took place.

According to officials, none of the three passengers in the Honda suffered injuries during the accident. While the collision buckled part of the apartment’s facade and ripped a door out of the frame, none of the residents of the building sustained any injuries.

Investigation

NPD has stated that authorities are investigating the possible causes of this tragic accident. Unfortunately, it can often be difficult for officials to investigate accidents for which there are no surviving drivers. In these cases, it’s important to seek help from an experienced Napa wrongful death lawyer who has the skills and resources to launch a private investigation. A good attorney will be able to look into the case with your family’s right to compensation as a priority.

Recovering Wrongful Death Damages

When people lose a family member or friend in an auto accident, it can cause anguish and make major changes to your life. The grieving process is always difficult, but dealing with such a sudden loss can make it even harder to process the emotions you are feeling during this time. While coping with grief is different for everybody, it’s important to set aside time to take care of yourself and be with the people you love.

Sadly, losing somebody in a crash can also mean running into very serious financial problems. Families are often left with medical bills incurred before their loved one passed and are frequently shocked to find out how expensive it is to pay for burial and funeral costs. On top of these things, fatal accidents can also leave households without an important income source. Furthermore, our loved ones often contribute a great deal of value to our lives through household services, including things like cleaning, childcare, and cooking. Altogether, these losses can leave people feeling like they don’t have any options for moving forward after experiencing a tragic loss.

However, families can frequently claim full compensation for these damages by working with a Napa personal injury lawyer to file a wrongful death claim. By doing so, it’s possible to hold negligent parties and/or insurance companies liable for the personal and financial losses you’ve suffered.
