New Placer County Safety Vehicles

I’m Ed Smith, a Loomis Personal Injury Attorney. Supervisors from Placer County approved an expenditure on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, for a purchase of $1.5 million for new vehicles to be used by county officials.

Why?

The purchase of the new law enforcement vehicles are replacing the preexisting vehicles that will soon be retired. The estimated time for the arrival of the new vehicles is at the end of October of 2016. Brett Wood, the Purchasing Manager, stated that the purchases were classified as “urgent” because of the immediate submission of the vehicle orders to be sent to the manufacturer to prevent delivery delays. The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services is making the purchase for the new vehicles in order to save $54,000 when compared to the quote issued by Winner Chevrolet of Colfax. The purchase consists of 34 Chevrolet Tahoe SUVS to be used for patrol and 8 vehicles that will not be in use for patrol but will be used for other official business of the county.
