Mount Shasta Semi Collision Occurs on S.R. 89 Off-Ramp

A Mount Shasta semi collision occurred on December 8 when it crashed with a Toyota Corolla on a highway off-ramp. The accident occurred around 8:44 a.m. on the State Route 89 off-ramp off northbound Interstate 5, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) report. One of the vehicles exited the roadway, and the semi was reported as partially blocking the road. Injuries were reported in the accident. The Toyota sustained major front-end damage. An investigation into the cause of the accident and to assign fault is underway by the CHP traffic collision unit.

Negligent Truck Drivers Can Cause Accidents

Professional truck drivers are licensed and trained to operate large, powerful vehicles. Despite these efforts, semi drivers are still prone to making mistakes that cause serious accidents. Among the behaviors of a negligent truck driver that can cause a Mount Shasta semi collision are:

  • Speeding or driving too fast for the conditions
  • The use of a cell phone, texting, eating, or any other type of distracted driving
  • Before changing lanes, fail to check blind spots
  • Drivers who do not pay attention to other drivers’ actions
  • Using drugs or alcohol while operating a truck
  • Inadequate maintenance and repair protocols

Individuals harmed by negligent behavior or negligent actions by a professional driver in a Mount Shasta semi collision can seek justice when they are injured. They can recover compensation for any damages resulting from the accident from a qualified personal injury lawyer with expertise in semi accident cases.

Accident Injury Liability of Trucking Companies

Identifying who may be liable for an accident is important. Sometimes, a truck driver is primarily responsible for their own negligence. Trucking companies can, however, also be held liable for negligence. Examples of this include:

  • There was no proper training or certification for the driver
  • Safety standards were not followed when maintaining the truck
  • Instability or other problems were caused by overloading the vehicle
  • The company allowed unsafe working conditions
  • An inexperienced or unqualified driver was hired due to negligent hiring practices

Those injured may be compensated if a trucking company fails to take reasonable precautions to avoid an accident. In order to ensure that their rights are fully protected, they should contact a qualified trucking accident attorney as soon as possible.

Semi-Accident Compensation Recovery

The first step in seeking justice against liable parties after a commercial vehicle accident is to seek legal counsel. In such situations, an attorney with extensive experience in trucking accidents can be invaluable. Having experienced legal counsel on your side will ensure that your rights are fully protected and those at fault are held accountable, too.
