Cottonwood Traffic Accident Occurs on Locust Street

A Cottonwood traffic accident occurred on Mary 2 that sent at least one person to the hospital. The collision happened along Locust Street between 3rd and 4th streets around 2:10 p.m. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), one of the vehicles was a Toyota SUV, and the other was a Dodge Ram pickup pulling a trailer.

The Toyota went off the roadway into a water-filled ditch. The Ram blocked the street. Shasta County Fire Department medics determined one of the drivers had suffered injuries in the crash. He was exported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding for medical attention and evaluation. An investigation is being conducted by CHP traffic crash detectives to find out how the collision occurred.

Compensation for Personal Injuries

When someone’s negligence injures you in a Cottonwood traffic accident, you have the right to file a personal injury claim. You may face financial difficulties from the mounting medical bills, lost wages due to work inability, and pain and suffering, all of which were not your fault. The physical and emotional pain from injuries is burdensome enough without the added financial strain. Therefore, the individuals or entities that caused the injuries are legally required to cover these expenses, so you don’t have to.

Filing Your Claim Promptly

In California, individuals have a two-year window to file an injury claim before the statute of limitations runs out. While two years might seem ample, evidence supporting your claim can vanish, and witnesses can become unavailable in less time. To ensure a strong claim, file your lawsuit promptly to improve your chances of receiving the compensation you rightfully deserve.

Establishing Fault in a Serious Injury Collision

Once a lawyer reviews your case and confirms your eligibility to file a claim against the negligent party, they start to gather the necessary evidence to back your compensation claim. Common strategies include:

  • Conducting a site investigation of the crash, capturing photos for evidence. Often, proof like tire marks and the collision’s impact point can establish fault.
  • For some cases, performing a forensic reconstruction of the accident helps illustrate the crash dynamics and vehicular positioning.
  • Investigators will review any cameras around the crash location, such as those in businesses, homes, and traffic lights, to check if they recorded the Cottonwood traffic accident. If so, the law can compel the release of footage, which serves as credible evidence for insurance companies and juries.
  • Verifying the police accident report for accuracy, as any mistakes might jeopardize the client’s claim.
