Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested in Yuba City Following ATV Crash

On Wednesday, June 24, 2020, a man was arrested in Yuba City on charges related to a hit-and-run accident that injured an ATV rider in late May. The collision reportedly occurred in Colusa County and left a woman with major injuries. In addition to the ATV, the hit-and-run driver also struck a second passenger vehicle during the incident, although no other parties were injured.

Crash Information

The collision happened on the northbound side Highway 45 in the small community of Princeton on May 31. The ATV rider was reportedly stalled on the side of the highway while the arrested driver was traveling with his wife and 15-year-old son in a 2014 Buick LaCross. The Buick reportedly veered off the highway and collided head-on into the ATV, throwing the rider onto the ground.

Directly after the crash, a second passenger vehicle pulled in front of the Buick to prevent the driver from leaving the scene. According to police, the driver exited the car and ran away from the location on foot. CHP indicated that the passengers of the Buick remained on-scene and cooperated with responders.

Injuries and Arrest

Medical responders were called into the accident scene directly after the incident was reported to CHP. As emergency officials arrived at the site, they discovered that the ATV rider had suffered severe trauma and had her transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance. Updates on her condition have not been reported.

The driver was reportedly arrested at an unreported location in Yuba City without incident. According to police, he is currently facing multiple felony charges related to the accident.
