Driver Hospitalized After Galt School Bus Crash at A Street Intersection

A Galt school bus crash on May 14 hospitalized the driver after the vehicle was struck by a possible drunk driver. The accident happened at about 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of A Street with Oak Avenue. There were 20 students on the bus when the Galt accident happened. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a pickup truck crashed with the school bus. The bus then hit a power pole.

Students on the bus were reunited with their parents or guardians. The injured bus driver was hospitalized with injuries. Galt Police Department officers believe the pickup driver was impaired and took that person into custody. Due to the collision, around 300 customers experienced a power outage.  The CHP traffic collision unit is investigating the accident to determine how it occurred.
