Details on the Fatal Truck Crash on Henry Miller Avenue in Merced County

A preliminary report revealed that a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia with two empty trailers was traveling westbound on Henry Miller Avenue while a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia was headed eastbound. Authorities indicated that the 2022 Freightliner allegedly veered off the roadway and into the shoulder. This caused the driver to lose control of the big rig and enter the oncoming traffic lane in the direct path of the other large truck.

The 2020 Freightliner reportedly struck the rear trailer of the 2022 Freightliner. The driver of the 2022 Freightliner was uninjured, officials said. Sadly, the driver of the 2020 Freightliner succumbed to his injuries at the crash site. The Merced County Coroner’s Office has recently identified the decedent as Pedro Saldana, 36, of Cantua Creek. An investigation into the fatal truck crash on Miller Avenue in Merced County is ongoing and additional information has not yet been released.

What is a Wrongful Death Claim?

Nothing is more challenging than saying goodbye to a loved one, particularly if their death was sudden and resulted from an accident. The grief from the tragedy may be compounded with frustration and anger, knowing the loss was the result of someone else’s negligence. Surviving family members are devastated and in need of guidance and support. The family may be deprived of the relationship with the deceased and the care, companionship, and protection they provided. Survivors may have also depended on the decedent as the primary provider of the household, who helped around the home with lawn care and other maintenance, childcare, and other services. Just with a truck accident, the lives of a family may have changed, and their future may be on the line.

A wrongful death claim serves to hold the negligent party liable for their actions and to compensate survivors for economic and non-economic damages. The process of proving negligence on the part of the other side may be stressful and overwhelming. Not to mention, the court proceeding may be challenging, especially when the legal matter involves a large commercial truck. Insurance companies and defense counsel will fight to pay as little as possible on a wrongful death claim for a fatal big rig crash. However, you can depend on your compassionate and skilled Merced truck accident lawyer to navigate this difficult process and obtain the justice and financial recovery your family deserves. Hiring the best attorney may make all the difference in the outcome of your case for your family.
