Deadly Motorcycle Accident in Fairfield

The Fairfield Police Department (FPD) reported that a man tragically passed away during a motorcycle accident in Fairfield on Sunday, January 19, 2020. Authorities of Solano County identified the decedent the following day as 30-year-old Suisun City resident, Justin Wilkinson. The crash involved a motorcycle as well as an SUV and happened during the late afternoon on a major Fairfield highway off-ramp. The crash remains under investigation.

Collision Details

FPD stated that this accident occurred at around 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of Waterman Boulevard and an eastbound off-ramp from Highway Interstate 80. Details about the events leading up to the collision were not made available. However, police stated that Wilkinson was driving a motorcycle when he was struck by an SUV inside of the intersection.

Emergency officials arriving at the scene of the collision discovered that Wilkinson was severely injured. Wilkinson was placed on an ambulance and rushed to a local hospital for immediate care. Tragically, he lost his life shortly after arriving at the hospital. None of the occupants of the SUV suffered any injuries.

Investigation

FPD has stated that they do not believe intoxicated driving was a factor that contributed to this crash. As police continue with their investigation, no suspected causes have been reported.

When drivers pass away, their version of events is unavailable to police. This means that crucial factors such as roadway hazards or defective motorcycle parts are liable to be overlooked during official investigation. In order to ensure that the crash is investigated fully and with your family’s interests in mind, it’s vital to work with a Fairfield wrongful death attorney who can commit their resources and experience to privately investigating the accident.

The Costs of Fatal Crashes

A fatal accident can be devastating. Losing somebody that you care about is a tragedy and grieving is a very difficult process, especially after a sudden, unpredictable event. Furthermore, fatal crashes also often come along with serious financial losses. Medical bills, funeral expenses, lost income and services, and other losses can make families unsure of what they will be able to do to afford to live their lives.

These issues are serious. However, families can reach out for help. By filing wrongful death claims with the help of an attorney, it’s often possible to claim payments for your financial and personal losses following fatal collisions. Because these cases are complicated and liable parties are usually quick to start building a defense, it’s important to reach out to a lawyer as soon as you are able to.
