Fatal Car Accident Reported in San Jose
The San Jose Police Department reported a fatal car accident on the early morning of September 3, 2022. The traffic collision was said to have occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Hellyer Avenue and Ridgebrook Way.

A preliminary traffic incident report by San Jose PD revealed that a 2007 Toyota sedan was traveling eastbound on Hellyer Avenue. The Toyota driver pulled over and exited their vehicle. While doing so, the Toyota driver was allegedly hit by a westbound 2000 Dodge pickup truck. Sadly, the Toyota driver, 26-year-old Jaime Lopez Perez of Pleasanton, was declared deceased at the crash site.
The Dodge driver, a 23-year-old man, stayed at the scene of the car accident. San Jose PD reported that the Dodge driver showed signs of impairment. He was arrested on charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence (DUI). The Dodge driver was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail, officials said.
