Fatal Bicycle Collision in Davis

A fatal bicycle collision in Davis between two cyclists occurred on Monday, March 2, 2026. According to the Davis Police Department, officers responded at approximately 2:48 p.m. to the area of Community Park at West Covell Boulevard and Catalina Drive, where a woman and a minor were involved in a crash on the local bike path.

Upon arrival, responders found the adult female rider with fatal injuries; she was pronounced dead at the scene. The second bicyclist, a minor, sustained minor injuries and is cooperating with investigators. The Yolo County Coroner’s Office confirmed the woman was a 60-year-old resident of Davis. Authorities noted that at least one of the cyclists was riding an e-bike, but it has not been confirmed which party.

The collision prompted a temporary closure of the bike path while law enforcement and fire crews cleared the scene. The Davis Police Department is actively investigating the cause of the crash.

Safety Tips for Cyclists and Pedestrians

Collisions between cyclists, pedestrians, and vehicles can happen suddenly, even in controlled bike paths. Safety experts recommend:

  • Riding at safe speeds and being aware of your surroundings
  • Using lights and reflective gear, especially in low-light conditions
  • Yielding appropriately and signaling turns or stops to others
  • Maintaining a safe distance from other riders to prevent collisions
  • Wearing helmets and protective gear at all times
