Ethan Way Intersection Accident Involves Two Vehicles

An intersection accident in Sacramento on June 15 resulted in minor injuries after two vehicles collided. The crash happened at the Ethan Way intersection with Exposition Boulevard around 9:17 a.m. in front of the entrance to a movie theater. The crash occurred between a Honda Accord and a gray sedan, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) accident report.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and minor injuries were reported. Whether they received medical treatment at the accident scene is unknown. Determination of fault and how the collision occurred is being handled by the CHP traffic accident investigation unit.

Delayed Symptoms Can Happen After an Injury Accident

It is possible for minor injuries sustained in an intersection accident to worsen later, which may indicate more serious trauma. Traffic collisions often result in delayed symptoms as adrenaline releases during the impact and can mask pain. Medical attention is important even if you only sustain mild trauma in an injury accident.

Delayed Symptoms in an Accident

Most minor injuries sustained in accidents do not worsen over time. Serious injuries can develop from delayed symptoms, including:

  • Abdominal pain: Occupants in the front seat can suffer blunt trauma to the abdomen from the dashboard or steering wheel strikes during a collision. Seat belts tighten, and airbags deploy, resulting in abdominal trauma as well. There may be a serious condition, such as internal bleeding, if heavy bruising or pain appears in the abdomen.
  • Back pain: Pain in the back seems unimportant at first, but it can become serious over time. An injury to the spine, such as a herniated disc, can make it difficult to move. A good idea is to check for these types of injuries, so that they can be treated and prevented from becoming disabilities.
  • Cervical sprain or strain: An injury accident often results in strains or sprains to the cervical spine. At first, these injuries, often called whiplash, can appear to be symptomless. The symptoms may worsen if left untreated, restricting head movement and affecting shoulders and arms.
  • Injuries to the brain: Most people disregard minor headaches after an accident. Concussions or hemorrhages of the brain may cause headaches that become severe as time goes on. Immediately seek medical attention if your headache worsens.
