Driver Makes Deadly Error Turning Left at Folsom Boulevard

A fatality accident happened in East Sacramento on July 4th in a single-vehicle collision made by a reportedly unsafe turn. The accident happened on eastbound Folsom Boulevard at about 8:30 p.m. when 27-year-old Delia Latu of Rancho Cordova, allegedly attempted to turn toward the left, striking a concrete abutment. A GoFundMe page has been set up on behalf of Delia Latu and her family to help cover final resting expenses.

Fatal Collision Being Investigated to Determine Cause

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in East Sacramento, there were no additional vehicles involved. All the lanes along Folsom Boulevard heading east and west were shut down until around 2:00 in the morning as the site was cleared, and an investigation conducted into the cause of the crash.

One-Vehicle Fatality Accident Factors

A driver’s negligence or a mistake often leads to a fatal crash that involves a sole vehicle. A driver may become involved in a fatal accident for several reasons that can give rise to a wrongful death lawsuit for his or her family. A few examples of these types of collisions include:

  • Defective auto part: Whenever a defective auto part leads to an accident, the manufacturer and others may be held responsible. It is important to keep a vehicle for inspection in order to find any defects. An auto products liability claim can be filed against the manufacturer if a defective product caused the accident.
  • Fleeing driver: A hit-and-run can appear as a single-vehicle fatality accident when the perpetrator flees the scene. Attorneys can investigate accidents to determine if other motorists committed hit-and-runs and locate at-fault drivers.
  • Road defects: A government entity could be held responsible for a fatality caused by poor road maintenance. Drivers can be killed in a single accident if the overhead lights are not sufficient at night, there are broken traffic signals or there are potholes on the road. In addition, claims against government entities are only allowed for a much shorter period of time than other personal injury cases. Injuries must be reported to the government within six months of the date the accident happened. There may be other deadlines as well. The personal injury lawyer will take care of your claim, negotiate for you and ensure that all paperwork is filed in a timely manner.

Bringing a Wrongful Death Claim After a Fatality Accident

Wrongful death has caused the loss of loved ones in a fatality accident for many of our clients. It is common for families to put off filing a claim after losing a loved one. However, it may be difficult for them to cope with their finances after the death of someone they depended on.

The wrongful death claim offers family members both justice and closure as well as financial recovery. It is possible to collect damages through a wrongful death lawsuit, which can include compensation for the funeral expenses of the deceased and the cost of the burial, as well as for the wages the decedent would have earned until retirement age. Providing financial compensation won’t ease their grief, but it can help them move forward more easily.
